Hello everyone,
I know it's great to always find a way to cut costs, especially in today's economy.
My friend was so kind to share this recipe with me, so I wanted to share this will all of you.
She said it took her about 1/2 hour from beginning to end to make this.
You will need the following:
(She said Publix has everything if you have one close by)
- 3 gal or bigger bucket with a lid.
-1 qt. boiling water
-2 bars of Ivory soap
-2 C. Borax
-2 C. Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (not baking soda or detergent - its called washing soda)
-2 more gallons of water - not boiling
-Use a sharp knife and finely chop the bar soap to the boiling water and stir until soap is melted. You can keep on low heat until soap is melted - maybe 15 min.
-Turn off stove stir in the Borax & Washing Soda. Stir until disolved.
-Pour the mixture into a large, clean pail.
-Add the remaining 2 gallons of water, stir until well mixed.
-Cover pail and use 1/4 cup for each load of laundry.
-Stir the soap each time you use it (will gel).
This recipe makes about 2.5 gallons and you only use 1/4 C. per load

She even included the breakdown and how much money you can SAVE!!
-4 4.5oz bars ivory - 66 ea. = 1.32
-55oz box arm & hammer washing soda - 2.19 2.19/55=.04oz 16.8oz for 2C= .67
-76oz Borax laundry booster - Borax = 3.27/76=.04 14oz = 2C = .56
-1.32+.67+.56= 2.55 for approx. 2.5 gallons!!!
That is about 120 loads which equals .02 per load!!
Is that a SAVINGS or what!!!
